Sanctuary of Hope Mission Statement MISSION STATEMENT: Sanctuary of Hope is an ecumenical prayer and retreat center in the heart of Kansas City, Kansas. We offer a place to rest in God’s Holy presence and to find peace and hope in a busy world.
Sanctuary of Hope helps individuals, groups and families find quiet in the grounds and retreat center. This includes 33 acres of hiking trails, a labyrinth, an open field, a pond, a chapel, meeting space and a library. The grounds and retreat center can be utilized for prayer, meditation, rest, and renewal.
CO-PATRONS: Since Mary is a model for the above “Mission Statement,” it was decided to place the Sanctuary under the special patronage of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. This was the name of the first African-American Parish in the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas in the city of Kansas City, Kansas. (We do not want this title to be lost.) Also this name for Mary, tells us that we have a woman, a mother, a friend, a sister in Mary, who is always interceding for us. It is the role of Our Lady of Perpetual Help to assist us in any need in order for us to come closer to God, each other and our true self. Since the one adjective that best describes our mission at Sanctuary of Hope is "healing," we have chosen the Archangel Raphael as a co-patron of Sanctuary of Hope. We chose St. Raphael because the name means: "the medicine (or healing) of God."
